Description

A refined porcelain bust of Louise Brongniart after the celebrated 18th century sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon, produced by Camille Tharaud of Limoges.

Louise Brongniart (1772–1845) was the daughter of architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart, designer of the Palais Brongniart in Paris. Her likeness was immortalized by Houdon, whose sculptural realism defined French Neoclassicism.

This porcelain interpretation captures the intellectual clarity and restrained elegance associated with late 18th century French portraiture. The smooth matte white surface contrasts beautifully with the deep blue glazed pedestal base, creating a composed and architectural silhouette.

Produced in Limoges by Camille Tharaud, known for fine porcelain and sculptural reproductions, the piece bridges 18th century neoclassical artistry with early 20th century French decorative production.

An ideal object for a library, study, mantel, or layered vignette where historical presence matters.

Very good condition.
